Band Instruments

Beginner lessons for flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, and trumpet. Beginner to advanced lessons for trombone, bass trombone, tuba, and euphonium.

Through personalized, one-on-one lessons, students will work on building a foundation for growth and success. Currently, we offer lessons for a variety of band instruments (including trumpet, trombone, tuba, euphonium, flute, and clarinet). Private lessons will allow students to work with their teacher to assess current strengths and weaknesses, building a personalized repertoire and practice schedule that is designed for success. Our teachers are dedicated to working with students to set achievable goals to stay motivated and driven in their personal practice.

Our lessons for band instruments focus on your connection with your instrument while addressing important aspects of your technique and foundational skills. Our teachers will help you find technical exercises that build agility, strengthen breath control, and further your musical literacy. While each instrument has its own set of struggles and difficulties, you will have individualized guidance to help you overcome the challenges of learning a new instrument.

One-on-one lessons for band students builds confidence and makes stronger musicians. Whether you’re learning an instrument for personal enjoyment or you’re a part of a larger ensemble, individual lessons will establish healthy practicing habits, improve musical literacy, and further your growth as a musician and performer. You’ll have the opportunity to work on new styles and genres, exploring other musical options that you might not have known about before.

To better understand music is to better understand theory. Many of your lessons will include aspects of music theory to further your playing and comprehension of music. At your request, we can have a broader focus on music theory and how it applies to your instrument. Enquire about different options!

Beginner students will focus on the fundamentals of playing their band instrument. Understanding music notation, learning the basics of their instrument, supported breathing, and proper technique are key to a healthy and long-lasting musical foundation. While seeing all of these things listed out might seem overwhelming, your teacher will work to guide you with exercises and repertoire tailored to your learning at the pace that is right for you. All musicians start at the beginning, but let us help you take those first steps!

For more intermediate students, you’ll work closely with your teacher to learn more challenging and diverse repertoire, including new styles and performance techniques found in different genres. Building off of established, foundational skills, you’ll have the opportunity to finesse your performance and grow towards the sound and skill of a more experienced musician. Your teacher will guide you through learning new music, reinforce healthy techniques and habits, and help you learn new skills on your instrument.

For advanced musicians looking to work with one of our teachers, there are many things that we can help you with! Lessons will include more collaboration between student and teacher as you work towards mastering a new skill, learning particularly challenging repertoire, or refining a piece for an upcoming performance. With your teacher, you can take a deeper dive into style, articulation, musicality, and techniques that could be used to elevate your performance to meet your personal goals.
