Janet is an Ames native and has played in, sung in and conducted many musical ensembles in the upper Midwest region. She has a degree in music from Iowa State University focusing on music education, trombone performance and orchestral conducting. She has performed in wind ensembles, concert bands, marching bands, orchestras, jazz ensembles, musicals, brass quintets, recorder consorts, bell choirs, choirs, and a vocal trio called The Lemon Sisters. Janet has led music in several upper Midwest womenโ€™s retreats with guitar and ukulele. Her main joy, though, has always been conducting. She has over 40 years of experience in directing and conducting many different genres of music with vocal choirs, bell choirs, ukulele groups, brass ensembles and contemporary music combos. She likes to say that no matter what our beliefs or views are, we can literally be on the same page for those few minutes that weโ€™re making music together.
