Ian Lewis is a Junior at Iowa State University studying Piano Performance under Dr. Mei-Hsuan Huang. Ian is originally from Cedar Falls, Iowa, where he studied under Dr. Ted Reuter, with whom he discovered his passion for piano. This passion has only grown in his years at Iowa State, and he loves to share that passion with others through teaching.
While Ian is a classical pianist, he encourages his students to pursue whatever genre they enjoy most in order to foster a love for music. He caters his lessons to each individual student to meet their needs and take them in the direction they most look forward to. With all students, he emphasizes technique and theory, as those are the building blocks for playing piano in any genre and any style.
At Iowa State, Ian is an active performer. He is a solo pianist and frequently collaborates with other musicians to play duets or trios. Ian is the collaborative pianist for Cantamus and Lyrica, two of the choirs at Iowa State, and he has performed with the Iowa State University Symphony Orchestra and the Iowa State Statesmen on multiple occasions. He also sings in the Iowa State Singers.
Ian is excited to share his passions by teaching at the Lott Music Studio!
