Scott Gunderson is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point where he majored in Music Composition, Theory, and Applied Performance- Piano. Upon entrance to UWSP, Scott was awarded a Music Department Scholarship. While attending college, he taught Theory and Ear Training classes as a student intern. In addition to teaching and taking classes, Scott composed more than 50 classical works, was a member of Delta Omicron International Music Honors Fraternity, and served as President of the Central Wisconsin Composer’s Forum during his time as UWSP.
Scott has more than 25 years of teaching experience. He teaches all levels of experience and styles of music including classical, jazz, blues, and rock. While he primarily teaches piano, he is equally adept with teaching composition, music theory, and improvisation.
Outside of teaching, Scott has an extensive performance and recording background. He has toured nationally and internationally as a keyboardist and music director with bands that have featured members of Prince, Blue Man Group, Yanni… His bands have opened for Styx, The Beach Boys, Chris Stapleton, Edgar Winter Group, Great White, Starset, X Ambassadors, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charlie Daniels Band, Head East, and many others. He has also played multiple headlining shows in Las Vegas. Scott’s recording career includes sessions with Grammy Award winning producer Jesse Ray Ernster, Waddy Wachtel (Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor…), Jimmy Saxman Roberts (Rod Stewart, Carly Simon…), and recording projects with Jeff Loomis (Nevermore, Arch Enemy). Additionally, Scott has played on multiple albums for Norwegian recording artist Ole Ask. Scott has also written and recorded music for several indie films. Last, but most certainly not least, Scott has written and recorded several albums and many singles that have been published worldwide and are available on all download and streaming platforms.
