Olivia Nespor is a saxophonist specializing in jazz and improvisation. She recently graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Music degree.
She performs with Mango Soul, a Des Moines-area funk band, and loves connecting with people through music. Whether she’s performing on stage, playing with friends, or creating memorable moments with her bandmates, Olivia’s goal is simple: to make people feel something through music.
“Music has shaped my life into what it is today. I grew up listening to my parents’ favorite tapes and playing those songs on our old, out-of-tune piano. I met my husband while we were both playing in a jazz combo at Iowa State, and ever since I was little, I’ve known I wanted to play the saxophone. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities, friendships, and experiences music has given me.”
Does her name sound familiar? Olivia is also the wife of our drumset instructor, Quinton! Together they enjoy supporting the local music community by performing in bands, playing at local churches, and making music together whenever they can.
