Madison Mayfield is the Operations Coordinator at Lott Music Studio.
Madison was born and raised in the heart of Texas. Her hometown, China Spring, provided her with many opportunities that fostered Madison’s love of music, art, and performance. As she got older, she knew that this innate need to create art would be an important part of her future— and she wasn’t wrong. Madison spent 4 years at Iowa State University honing her craft as an artist and expanding her technical skills with a double major in English (creative writing) and Music (voice). During her time in the music program, she studied voice with Dr. Jennifer Rodgers and Jodi Goble. Outside of her required classes, Madison was a member of Cantamus and Iowa State Singers, the president of the student literary journal Sketch, and the president of the student acapella group Count Me In. In 2024, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA.
After graduation, Madison debated where to go next. Was it time for her next great adventure? Or was it better to be somewhere familiar? With the world as her oyster, she decided to stick around in Ames for a little bit longer. Surrounded by a vibrant community of friends and mentors, success was sure to follow close behind. Thanks to her connections from her time at ISU, she soon found herself joining the team at Lott Music Studio to work in an administrative capacity.
While you likely recognize Madison’s name from email signatures or her face from her perch behind the front desk, there’s much more happening behind the scenes than you might know! As Operations Coordinator, Madison manages all scheduling for both teachers and students; organizes special events including recitals and teacher performances; creates copy materials for social media posts, flyers, and brochures for studio programs, events, and updates; oversees monthly invoicing procedures; and so much more.
While most of Madison’s work in the studio utilizes her skills as a technical writer and organizer, she keeps her creative muscles in good shape with various free-lance gigs and personal projects. Original compositions, arrangements, and plenty of literary projects are Madison’s bread and butter. Occasionally, you can hear her work performed by various ensembles at Iowa State University including Cantamus, Lyrica, and Count Me In.
Outside of the studio, you can often find Madison at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Ames, where she works as their Music Coordinator and Choir Director. Of course, when she isn’t behind the front desk or making music, you can find her nose deep in a good book, elbow deep in a new baking recipe, or snuggled up on the couch with Constance, her beloved cat.
