Born and raised in Ames, Daniel Brumm is a Senior in Instrumental Music Education at Iowa State University. Studying under Dr. Christian Carichner, his main instrument is the Euphonium, and has been playing in the ISU Wind Ensemble for several years, as well as competed multiple times in the ISU Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. He has also had the opportunity to play Tuba and Sousaphone in many ensembles, including the ISUCF’V’MB, ISU Women’s Basketball Pep Band, Symphonic Band, a Brass Quintet, and in a Brass Band called “DJ Johnny & the BPM” with other musicians from ISU.
Although his main instruments are Euphonium and Tuba, Daniel loves to play and teach all of the other concert band wind instruments as well. He teaches beginner and intermediate lessons on flute, clarinet, saxophone, and double reeds, with the ability to teach beginner through advanced students on all brass instruments.
Daniel believes in the importance of working on the fundamentals, understanding airflow and their instrument, being engaged with the music, and meeting students where they are at. To him, it is very important to not only fail and get better, but to also make connections and have fun.
